Things have not gone well for the Welsh Fire in the ongoing season of The Hundred 2022 and they marched onto the field once again to take on London Spirit in match 24. The skipper, Josh Cobb won the toss and chose to hunt the total. The Spirit openers marched on the field with supreme confidence on the back of stupendous performances from the start of the season.

Adam Rossington and Daniel Bell-Drummond got off to a quick start, but the latter made his way back to the pavilion after contributing twelve runs to the team. The confident start from the openers laid the path for the one that entered the field at number 3 for the Spirit. Ben McDermott made the best use of the volant start until Adam Rossington followed Bell-Drummond back to the pavilion.

The Fire skipper bagged one scalp to his name as he got rid of the Spirit's skipper Eoin Morgan for a humiliating duck. The number three batter, McDermott perished after steadying the blue team and made his way back for Kieron Pollard. The veteran from the West Indies joined hands with Dan Lawrence to push the total as fast as they can. The Caribbean finished the innings for the team with a six off the last ball and punched the team's total to 156.

With high hopes, the Welsh Fire openers thundered onto the field to clinch their first two points of the season. The plans did not work as both the openers failed to settle down and put their team in a fix. Joe Clarke, Jacob Bethell, skipper Josh Cobb and David Miller perished for cheap scores to make things tough for the Fire, who have struggled all through the season.

Ben Duckett decided to not bow down too easily as he and Dwaine Pretorius fought back harder with grit to pull their team close to the target. Dan Lawrence put an end to Ben Duckett's adamancy and forced him to bow down after the latter smashed a valiant 34 off 19 balls. Matt Critchley's heroics, in the end, did not end the misery for Welsh Fire as they succumbed to the Spirit by seventeen runs.
