On 24 May 2023, Mumbai Indians (MI) will lock horns with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at Chepauk, Chennai in the eliminator of IPL 2023. LSG have always defeated MI in the previous three meetings in IPL. So, they will look to continue their dominance while MI will look to open their account this time around.

Now, ahead of this clash, the former RCB player, AB de Villiers came up with a tweet and claimed that MI have an edge over LSG for having previous experience of playing playoff encounters over so many years. Seeing that, some fans were not happy and shared their views on social media.

Speaking of the tweet, de Villiers wrote: “THE ELIMINATOR!!! LSG vs MI. Who will play GT in Qualifier 2? I feel MI have a slight advantage considering form and big match players who’ve been here before. The secret at the Chepauk and what so many teams get wrong?? Every single run counts, no matter how good or bad you start. It’s the small things and not the big 6’s that win u games there.” 

“Buckle up, it’s gonna be a goodie! Whoever wins will take confidence to Ahmedabad against a GT team who might be feeling a touch low after yesterday’s loss. All to play for. Watch the game live @JioCinema,” de Villiers concluded. Even, after the qualifier one, while talking to JioCinema, the former RCB batter said: “I feel that MI have two things going in their favor, they what knockouts are all about, they've won this tournament five times. No one has done that, so when Rohit and his team get to the knockout stages, they become a different team. Number 2 is that they are coming with momentum.”

“They've worked really hard to get to the knockout stage. We've seen that happen before, when they've lost five of their opening matches and then gone on to win the IPL. Similar situation, not quite zero out of five but they were off to a poor start and now they're in the knockouts, and they're a dangerous team in the tournament now,” he further added.
