Hardik Pandya surprised everyone with his captaincy abilities in the Indian T20 League 2022. He got the opportunity to lead the new franchise Gujarat and led them to glory at his maiden attempt. Despite showing great leadership skills, he performed well as an individual also. In that season, Pandya scored 487 runs in 15 matches along with taking eight wickets.

On the other hand, MS Dhoni is known as one of the best captains in Indian cricket history. Under his captaincy, team India won all available major titles. He even won the Indian T20 League four times for the Chennai franchise. Now, Gujarat’s spinner, R Sai Kishore came up with a huge comparison between Dhoni and Hardik Pandya in terms of captaincy abilities.

The upcoming edition of the Indian T20 League is going to begin on 31 March 2023. The defending champions, Gujarat will take on Chennai in Ahmedabad. Now, ahead of the clash, R Sai Kishore said: "Hardik and Mahi bhai are very similar in the ways they handle things. Both are pretty calm. One of the things I admire about Hardik is his ability to handle his success and failures equally well. That is something which is very unique about him. He is a pretty level-headed player."

He further opened up about the champion tag and whether it will affect them or not in the tournament. Sai Kishore said: "The champions tag is always there. It is up to us to take it or not. We played last year and that's why we won. This year too to win our focus will be to try and play well and enjoy the game. The tag won't matter much if we can do well." He also lauded the environment of the Gujarat franchise that helped him to perform in the 2022 edition. "The way management sees you through your effort is importance. I was expensive at times and picked wickets too on other occasions but Ashish Nehra was always the same. That is something I am very grateful for," Sai Kishore concluded.
