Brett Lee is currently busy playing in the ongoing LLC Masters. On 20 March 2023, he will be in action again when his team, World Giants will take on Asia Lions in the final. However, recently, he managed an interview with Sports Yaari where Lee opened up about the team he expects to win the ODI World Cup in India in 2023.

Brett Lee picked team India as the favourites to win the upcoming ODI World Cup in 2023. However, the Men in Blue are currently the number one-ranked team in the 50-over format. But, their recent performances in the major tournaments disappointed fans heavily. So, fans came up and claimed that the former Aussie pacer might have jinxed the chances of India by now with such a prediction.

India will take on Australia in the third ODI on 22 March 2023 

India won their last ODI World Cup in 2011 in India. They were the first team to win a World Cup under home conditions. After that, in the 2015 and the 2019 World Cup, they got knocked out in the semi-final on both occasions against Australia and New Zealand respectively. The Men in Blue began those tournaments as one of the favourites as always. But, they failed miserably in the knockout games. So, fans will hope for a better performance this time around in 2023 under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma.

Speaking about Brett Lee, he opened up about Umran Malik who needs to be added to team India for the third ODI against the Aussies in the ongoing series. While talking to Sports Tak, Lee said: “I like him. Get him in. Why not? (Inclusion in Test cricket). I said he should have played the World Cup last year in Australia. Didn’t take him at the start but he should have been there. He would have been the first pick in my team because raw pace is very hard to harness. You got to look after them but you’ve also got to throw him in the deep end at some time. Get him out there, allow him to play and let him scare a few batters around the world.”
