The Delhi franchise locked horns with the Lucknow franchise on 1 March 2023 in the ongoing Indian T20 League. However, Delhi are missing the services of Rishabh Pant this year as he is currently nursing the injuries that he sustained from a severe road accident. So, Delhi will look to do well despite not having on the team.

Now, an image from the match has gone viral where Delhi were seen putting up Rishabh Pant’s jersey in the dugout to give a tribute. However, seeing that, fans went crazy and shared some funny tweets all over the internet. Pant got involved in the accident on 30 December 2022 and now, he might find difficulties getting fit even before the ODI World Cup.

Before the first match, Ricky Ponting opened up about the change of leadership in Delhi this season. Last year, Rishabh Pant was the skipper, and in his absence, David Warner got the opportunity to lead. He said: "I have spoken to Rishabh a bit. We are hoping to get him involved this season. I'd love to have him at all our home games. Having him in our dugout or our changing room will be very special. However, David Warner will do a great job. He has been a successful franchise cricket captain in the past. He's excited to lead the team as well". 

Rishabh Pant has been an integral part of this franchise since 2016. So, Ponting further added: ‘But as I've said, in an ideal world for me, and I said this couple of weeks ago, he's going to be sitting next to me in the dugout for every home game this season. Now, if that can work great, but if it can't, as I said, we'll find other ways to make sure he is a part of what we are doing."
