Stand-in skipper KL Rahul had a horrible run of form with the bat in the recently concluded two-match Test series against Bangladesh. He could score only 57 runs in four innings of the two matches with a very poor average of 14.25. Notably, the 30-year-old couldn’t touch a mark of even 30 runs in either of the innings of the two matches.

Later on, the journalists happened to ask the Karnataka batter about his poor performance in the series against a lower-ranked team like Bangladesh. In response, KL Rahul went on to accept his timid form in the series.

“Obviously, my performance in this series was not great. I can accept that and tried my best and it didn’t work. I can look forward and see what I can do better next time,” said KL Rahul in the post-match presentation.

“Unfortunately, our schedules are too tight for some of us who play all formats. But that’s the challenge for us. Ideally, we would have wanted a lot more time between red-ball and white-ball cricket to get used to and get our mind back to play the longest version,” he added later.

The media reports have also learned that KL Rahul might be rested from the upcoming white-ball assignment against Sri Lanka starting on the 3rd of January.

Notably, KL Rahul also talked about the omission of Kuldeep Yadav from the playing XI of the second Test match despite of a match-winning performance. He scalped eight wickets in the Chattogram Test including a five-for in the first innings.

“I would have loved to bring in Kuldeep as an impact player if the IPL rule was applicable here. It was a tough call, I don't regret that decision, it was the right decision,” said Rahul.
