Shreyas Iyer

The number-four Indian batter in ODI, Shreyas Iyer has shown both his form and class once again during the recently played first of the three-match ODI series against New Zealand. Iyer played a brilliant and stable knock of 80 runs off 76 balls with four boundaries and the same number of sixes to his name.

Although, his efforts went in vain as the men in blue ended up on the wrong side of the match and lost it by a margin of seven wickets, thanks to the centurion knock of senior Kiwi wicketkeeper-batter Tom Latham (145* off 104 balls).

Coming back to India’s Shreyas Iyer, the 27-year-old has impressed everyone with his stellar outings in the last 5 ODI appearances. Notably, the Mumbai-born batter has scored three half-centuries and a century to his name in the last five innings of the 50-over format.

Following Iyer’s brilliant knock against New Zealand in the first ODI, fans also took it as an opportunity to compare him with the star Indian batting sensation and World number one T20I batter Suryakumar Yadav.
