India and Bangladesh faced off against each other in a three-match ODI series on December 4, Sunday and it was the latter who came out on top on the back of a stupendous innings from star batter Mehidy Hasan. As things stand, it was Bangladesh skipper Litton Das who called it right at the toss and elected to field first.

Eventually, India got off to a sepulchral start as Shikhar Dhawan contributed only 7 runs with the bat, much to the dreariness of the Indian fans. The Men in Blue skipper Rohit Sharma, on the other hand, contributed only 27 runs before making his way back to the dressing room. Virat Kohli, the Indian star, scored 9 runs and fell for Shakib Al Hasan.

On the back of KL Rahul's 73, India managed to put on 186 runs on the board. It was a dismal performance from team India, to say the least, and it was the middle-order who let the team down yet again, although one has to agree that the Top 3 failed as well.

Bangladesh got off to a decent start and eventually managed to put on 48 runs for the third wicket post losing the first 2 wickets in quick succession. To add more, while Najmul Hossain Shanto perished for a duck, Anamul Haque made his way back to the dressing room for just 14 runs. Eventually, it was skipper Das who gave the Bangla Tigers, the much-needed comeback with his well-crafted 41.

However, post the fall of their skipper, Bangladesh choked and lost their 9th wicket after gathering 136 runs on the board. It was Mehidy Hasan who stood up to the occasion and gave a nightmare to the Indians with his fighting intent and fiery batting. On the back of his great-hearted 38, the Bangla Tigers clinched the game by just 1 wicket and took a 1-0 lead in the series. India's loss made way for memes and fans flooded Twitter with the same, given the loss is one of India's worst-ever defeats.
