Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are set to lock horns in a two-match Test series, starting 15th May 2022. The first Test will be played from 15th May to 19th May. The second and the final Test of the series is slated to be played from 23rd May to 27th May 2022.

The Bangladesh Cricket Team had started training on Monday. Shakib Al Hasan was due to join the squad on Wednesday. However, he will now remain under isolation and will be re-tested in due course.

This is a big blow for Bangladesh as Shakib would have provided a great balance in the team. His all-round prowess could prove to be crucial to the team’s fortune in the first Test. For the unversed, Bangalore are already missing the services of Mehidy Hasan and Taskin Ahmed, due to injuries. The latter suffered a shoulder injury during Bangladesh’s Tour of South Africa.

Besides, Shoriful Islam is in the Test squad but his participation is subject to a fitness test ahead of the game. Meanwhile, the Bangladesh’s Cricket Governing Body has announced Mosaddek Hossain as cover for the injured Mehidy Hasan Miraz.

Bangladesh dearly missed Shakib Al Hasan’s services during their tour to New Zealand and South Africa. Bangladesh stunned one and all after winning the first of the two Tests against New Zealand but couldn’t win the next one as well.

On their tour to South Africa, Bangalore played 3 ODIs and 2 Tests. They created history after winning the ODI series but lost both the Tests, which followed thereafter. Ahead of the 2-match Test series against Sri Lanka at home, they would be looking to beat the visitors in both the games.

However, in the absence of Shakib Al Hasan, Mehidy Hasan and Taskin Ahmed, it isn’t going to be easy.
