Asian Cricket Council announce Asia Cup 2022 schedule, India to face Pakistan in their first match

Asian Cricket Council has announced the schedule for Asia Cup 2022. The tournament will kick off in the last week of this month of August. Sri Lanka and Afghanistan will lock horns against each other in the inaugural match of the continental tournament.  Whereas arch-rivals India and Pakistan will cross the swords on the 28^th of August in the second match of the tournament.

The ACC has bifurcated the participating teams into two pools namely Pool A and Pool B. Pool A will consist of Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh. On the other hand, the qualified team from the qualifiers will join India and Pakistan in Pool B.

Asian Cricket Council kept the hosting rights of Asia Cup 2022 to Sri Lanka

Speaking a bit more about the tournament, earlier, the ACC had decided to host it in the South Asian country of Sri Lanka. But later on, it was shifted to the UAE due to the increasing political and economical turbulence in Sri Lanka. The Sri Lankan cricket board has expressed its incapability to host the tournament.

Although, the Asian Cricket Council has kept the hosting to Sri Lanka itself even after the shifting of the venue for the tournament.
