So finally, coming out of all the odds and interval political and economic disturbances, Sri Lanka managed to win the sixth title in the Asia Cup. They clinched the title with a comprehensive win against Pakistan in the final of the tournament. Islanders won the match comfortably by 23 runs to win the tournament having a fifth consecutive win in the 15th edition of the tournament.

Pakistani skipper won the toss and asked the Sri Lankans to bat first at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Batting first, Sri Lanka managed to post a decent total of 170 runs for the loss of six wickets in the allotted 20 overs. While chasing the target, Pakistan couldn’t cross the line and scored only 147 runs for the loss of all wickets in all 20 overs.

Talking about the match, then the Sri Lankan team was looking in trouble when they lost their five wickets only on the score of 58 runs in 8.5 overs. But the amazing knock of 71 runs off just 45 balls with six boundaries and three sixes from Bhanuka Rajapaksa and supporting effort of 36 runs off 21 balls from Wanindu Hasaranga helped the Lankan tigers to post a decent total of 170 runs for the loss of six wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

Rawalpindi-born pacer Haris Rauf ended up as the highest wicket-taker with three wickets for Pakistan by conceding 29 runs in his quota of four overs.

While chasing the target, Sri Lanka started very poorly as Madhushanka conceded 9 extra runs before bowling the first fair delivery of the second innings in the first over. But later on, the Sri Lankan bowling attack made a strong comeback in the match bundling up the Babar Azam's men on the score of 147 runs in 20 overs to win the match by 23 runs and register the sixth title triumph in the Asia Cup.

Mohammad Rizwan ended up as the highest run scorer for Pakistan in the match with an individual inning of 55 runs off 49 balls with four boundaries and a six to his name. Other than him, middle-order batter Iftikhar Ahmed was the only other batter who crossed the 30-run mark for the team.

Bhanuka Rajapaksa won the award of player of the match with an amazing match-defining knock of an unbeaten 71 runs off 45 balls in the first innings for Sri Lanka.
