Indian team is currently gearing up with their preparations for the upcoming Asia Cup 2022 commencing on the 27th of August later this week. Indians will face the arch-rivals Pakistan in their first match of the tournament on the 28th of August at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Notably, the men in blue will be looking ahead to clear up the account of their last defeat against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup of 2021.

India has already announced their squad for this multi-team continental tournament. Few renowned senior players including the likes of senior batter Virat Kohli and regular skipper Rohit Sharma will be back in the squad for the Asia Cup. On the other hand, the selectors have also included some young players in the squad. But there will also be the players who might have to sit on the bench throughout the entire tournament.

So, here we’ll have a look at four players who might not get a chance in the playing XI of India during the Asia Cup 2022.

Deepak Hooda

The Rohtak-based explosive batter showed his batting heroics in the two-match T20I series against Ireland back in the month of June. Apart from this, he also played some crucial knocks in the bilateral clashes against England and Zimbabwe. Deepak Hooda is also a part of the Indian squad for the upcoming Asia Cup 2022.

Considering all senior and in-form batters, the top and middle order of India might consist of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav, Dinesh Karthik, and then Ravindra Jadeja followed by Hardik Pandya. So, it makes it quite tough for Hooda to secure a berth in the playing XI during any match of the tournament.

The young pacer has been with India on the last couple of tours including a series against England, West Indies, and Zimbabwe. He has also performed quite a bit well in a few matches for the Indian team. But the possible bowling combination of India during the Asia Cup is narrating a different story in this scene.

India might field senior pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar alongside Arshdeep Singh and have Hardik Pandya as the third pacer. So, this combination closes the doors of playing XI for Avesh Khan in the Asia Cup 2022. He might have to sit on the bench throughout the entire tournament.

Ravi Bishnoi

Young leg spinner has proved his worth for the Indian team on the given opportunities, he was in fantastic bowling form during the ODI series against West Indies. On the grounds of his performance, the selectors went on to select him in the Indian squad for the Asia Cup 2022. But there are very less chances that the captain and management count on him while picking up the playing XI in any of the matches of the tournament.

This is because due to the fact that India has already Ravindra Jadeja and Yuzvendra Chahal in the squad to go ahead with. It already reduces the chances for Bishnoi to make it to the playing XI through the entire tournament.

Ravichandran Ashwin

The senior all-rounder made it to the squad of the Asia Cup on the grounds of his couple of fine performances for the Indian team in the last couple of months. He has been a vital element for the team in the last couple of years with his all-round capabilities in crucial situations for the men in blue.

Ravichandran Ashwin also impressed both the experts and the fans with his excellent outings in the 2022 edition of the Indian T20 League. But looking at the current spin bowling combination of the Indian team for the Asia Cup 2022, it is also very hard for the 35-year-old to make it to the playing XI of the Indian team throughout the complete edition of the Asia Cup 2022.
