England left-arm pacer Reece Topley created history after picking a six-for against India at Lords on July 14. In his first spell, he started with the wickets of opposition skipper Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan. Sharma was trapped lbw in a similar fashion in which he is known for. The ball came in from outside the off-stump and hit the front pad.
On the other hand, Dhawan was unlucky as he was caught down the leg-side by skipper Jos Butller while trying to play towards the fine leg. In his second spell, Topley took the wicket of Suryakumar Yadav, who chopped the ball onto the stumps. The left-arm pacer then came to bowl his third spell and outfoxed Mohammed Shami with a slower one.
Shami tried to slog the slower full toss but was caught by Ben Stokes running in from mid-on. The 28-year-old completed his five-wicket haul after cleaning up Yuzvendra Chahal. Three overs later, he completed his sixth wicket as Prasidh Krishna nicked to Buttler. With this wicket, the Three Lions managed to win the game by 100 runs and level the series 1-1.
After the game, the Suffolk-born player said that the six-wicket haul means a lot to him. The former England U17 and U19 player also said that it is everyone's dream to play for England. The Oval Invincibles player in The Hundred hopes that the team wins the series from here.
"That was a terrific team performance... Just happy that it came off. It
“Of course everyone dreams to play for England... It's a big game at the weekend, try and wrap up the series. Hopefully, we do that, and whatever is next,” he added.
