The Gujarat team in the auction got their hands on the uncapped left-arm seamer from Uttar Pradesh, Yash Dayal. The pacer has been in a good form for his state team in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, and as a result, has landed a place with the Gujarat team in the ITL for 3.2 crores.

Before this intense bidding war between the teams, Dayal joined the Indian team as a backup. He entered the bio-bubble for the ODI series against West Indies. He was then released to join his Ranji team in Gurgaon. Dayal gave a trial for Mumbai three years ago and has been a regular net bowler for them since then.

The 2021-22 season of the Vijay Hazare Trophy was what got everyone's attention. He finished the tournament with 14 wickets in seven games at an average of 17.35 and an economy of just 3.77. In the match against Hyderabad, he got a five-wicket haul conceding just 31 runs.

During the pre-quarterfinal game against Madhya Pradesh, he was crucial too. In his first spell, Dayal built pressure and did not concede runs as was expected on a greenish wicket. He got an edge from one of the openers, but the ball sailed over the slip fielders. He had another chance to get an LBW, but he was a bit confused and did not appeal for it.

The 24-year old was majorly impactful in the death between overs 41 and 44. The batters were looking to attack him, but he never allowed them to. He got three wickets in this spell, including that of in form Venkatesh Iyer and captain Aditya Srivastava.

He has been with the domestic team for two years now and he has picked up 23 wickets in the 14 games in his List A career. The left-hander also has 15 wickets in the 16 T20 games that he has played.
