Jasprit Bumrah is currently in New Zealand as he is looking to get fit from his sustained back injury. A few days back, reports came out that the Indian pacer has gone to New Zealand for having surgery. According to reports shared by Sports Tak, the surgery was scheduled to happen in one or two days.

The report reads: “Jasprit Bumrah left for New Zealand five days ago to undergo back surgery. After doctors advised Bumrah to undergo surgery, the Indian Cricket Board immediately made all the arrangements and sent him. The surgery will be carried out in a day or two.” Now, according to Cricbuzz’s report, Bumrah has gone through a successful back surgery and has been doing good.

Meanwhile, a senior Indian Cricket Board official claimed that a return date for Bumrah is quite tough to guess. He said: “It is difficult to set a return date. Once he recovers from surgery, he will undergo a rehab and only when the rehab ends, we will know when he can come back.” The overall rehabilitation period will take place approx. five to six months and then, the pacer can make a comeback for the Men in Blue. Speaking about the injury, Bumrah missed the third ODI in England first due to a back problem. Then, he reported in NCA by missing the West Indies tour.

After that, he did not participate in the Asia Cup and then, he was rushed back to the home South Africa series ahead of the 20-20 World Cup. But, Bumrah failed to continue and missed the World Cup. After that, selectors considered his name for the home ODI series against the Lankans. But, later, he got pulled out of the squad and now he is missing the ongoing BGT series. Bumrah will also miss the upcoming Indian T20 League and the WTC final if India managed to get qualified.
