Karthik came to Kohli and asked if he can run a single and give him a strike to complete the half-century. But the 33-year-old opted to refuse it and asked the former to smash the maximums.

After seeing this amazing gesture from a legend like Kohli, Indian cricket fans felt extremely overwhelmed. They took no time in pouring out their hearts in the praise of the senior batter to sacrifice his own milestone for the team. Fans took to Twitter for hailing the Delhi batter and his gesture to the senior wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik.

Here’s how fans reacted to Kohli’s gesture:

Speaking of the match, then Kohli played a very crucial knock of 49 runs off just 28 balls with seven boundaries and a six to his name. Besides Kohli, KL Rahul also played a foundational knock of 57 runs off just 28 balls alongside a 43-run knock from skipper Rohit himself. Later on, Surykaumar Yadav, in red-hot form, smashed a blistering knock of 61 runs off just 22 balls. Keshav Maharaj was the only proteas bowler who scalped two wickets.

While chasing the target, the senior duo of Quinton de Kock and David Miller played exceptionally well for the visitors. They both made a mammoth and unbeaten partnership of 174 runs for the third wicket. David Miller smashed a brilliant century off just 46 balls but these efforts went in vain as South Africa could score only 221 runs for the loss of three wickets in 20 overs. Eventually, India won the match by 16 runs to take a winning lead of 2-0 in the series.
