India and West Indies locked horns in the third of the five-match T20I series. Both teams were on a draw in the series with a score line of 1-1 before coming into this match. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and invited the hosts to bat first at Warner Park.
Batting first, the men in maroon posted a decent total of 164 runs for the loss of five wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Whereas, the Indian team chased the target in 19 overs with seven wickets to spare. Cricket fans have also reacted to India’s second win in the T20I series. They praised the team effort from the side and the performances of the Indian players.
Batting heroics of Suryakumar Yadav and Rishabh Pant helped India to gain the lead in series
The opening pair of Brandon King and Kyle Mayers provided a steady and fine start to West Indies. They made a partnership of 57 runs for the first wicket. Mayers played a brilliant knock of 73 runs off just 50 balls with eight boundaries and four sixes to his name.
Other than him, the batter of the hosts’ side played some vital knocks to help the team in reaching the total of 164 runs for the loss of five wickets in 20 overs. Senior pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar scalped two wickets for the Indian team. Other than him, star all-rounder Hardik Pandya also performed very economically with the ball. He conceded only 19 runs in the four overs and also claimed a wicket.
While chasing the target, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma had to retire because of an injury issue, then the pair of Shreyas Iyer and Suryakumar Yadav further carried the partnership for the first wicket to 105 runs in only the 12th over of the inning. Star batter Suryakumar played an amazing knock of 76 runs with eight boundaries and four sixes to his name.
Finally, the vital knock of 33 runs from Rishabh Pant helped India to cross the line only in the 19 overs. The visitors are now leading the series with a score line of 2-1 after a seven-wicket win in the third T20I of the series.
