Cricket is a game of uncertainties not only in the other aspect of it as well. There have been times when many promising cricketers made their international debut for India but they disappeared from the frame in no time and were never seen again in the frame. There are a lot of examples of this in the past including some names like opening batter Devang Gandhi and a promising player from Punjab Reetinder Singh Sodhi.

Although, there are also such players in the current time who has made their international debut for India in the recent few years. But there are the high chances they may have played their last international matches as well and might not be seen again on the national side of the Indian cricket team.

So, here we’ll have a look at five players who might not get a chance to play their next international match for team India.

The 29-year-old all-rounder impressed everyone with some of his stellar outings in the Indian T20 League. He made his first international appearance for India three years back in 2019 against Bangladesh in a T20I. Since then, he has donned the Indian jersey in 13 T20 internationals and only one ODI.

Shivam Dube could score only nine runs in his only One-Day international appearance and couldn’t scalp any wicket in the match with the ball. Other than this, he has scored only 105 runs with the bat in 13 T20I with a very low average of 17.50 having one half-century to his name. He has also scalped five wickets with the ball in T20Is.

Looking at the number of capable all-rounders in the team currently, there are very high chances that Shivam may have played his last international match for India.

Nitish Rana

The Delhi-born southpaw played his first international match last year at India’s tour of Sri Lanka. He played an ODI and two T20Is on that tour, unfortunately, those are the only three international matches that he played so far in his career. Nitish Rana was picked in the team to display his talent in the middle order.

But he could score only seven runs in the only ODI he played and 15 runs in the two T20Is. Since then, the selectors never looked at him to pick in the national team for any major assignment. It also seems for Nitish Rana that his career might end playing only in the domestic circuit of India.

Rahul Chahar

In a few initial matches of his career, Rahul Chahar impressed everyone with his bowling skills and also performed well for India. He made his first appearance for India in international cricket three years back in 2019. Since then, he could play only six T20Is along with only ODI. He scalped three wickets in that ODI against Sri Lanka. Whereas, he has picked only seven wickets in the six matches played so far.

He seemed very promising to the experts of the game, but the 23-year-old’s performance in the T20 World Cup 2021 last year happened to close his doors for the team India in international cricket. Since he hasn’t played any international match for India and chances are very less that he will get to play the one.

K Gowtham

The senior domestic all-rounder Krishnappa Gowtham is playing for a decade in the domestic circuit. But he couldn’t play the expected number of international matches for team India. The 33-year-old made his international debut for India last year in the ODI series against Sri Lanka.

Since then, he has played only one ODI for India and could scalp only one wicket by conceding 49 runs in just eight overs during that match. After that, the selectors have never picked him for the national side in either of the assignments of the team. It also looks for K Gowtham that he will end up as a senior domestic player only.

Faiz Fazal

Sometimes, this game of cricket also goes unfair with many talented players. A similar has happened with the senior domestic batter from Nagpur, Faiz Fazal. The 36-year-old Faiz is playing in the domestic circuit of India for the last 19 years since 2003. He has played a lot of matches in List-A and First-Class formats. The southpaw has also impressed with his brilliant batting in domestic cricket.

He got a chance to represent India in international cricket six years back in 2016 against Zimbabwe. In that match, he played a brilliant unbeaten knock of 55 runs. But nobody knows why he never got a chance in the Indian team after that match. Now, looking at his age, it also seems that Faiz is done with his international cricket career.
