Amidst that, some of the key Indian stars who are mainstays in the Indian Cricket Team have been failing miserably. And, with the 20-20 World Cup 2022 coming up, this a big concern for India. In this article, we will be talking about 5 players who will be in India's squad for the 20-20 World Cup but are going through a lean patch in the Indian T20 League 2022.

  1. Virat Kohli

Regarded as one of the greatest batsmen in the modern-day game, Virat Kohli enduring the worst phase of his cricket career. Kohli hasn’t scored a hundred in any format for more than 2 years now. He is struggling badly in the ongoing edition of the Indian T20 League.

The former Indian skipper hit his first half-century of the season against Gujarat but consumed 53 balls in scoring 58 runs. His struggles against spin is quite evident. Kohli has scored 216 runs in 11 matches in the ongoing edition at a strike rate of 111.92. Virat Kohli is a vital cog in the Indian team and his poor form is a big concern for the team.

2. Rohit Sharma

Mumbai Indians are currently languishing at the bottom of the points table. Mumbai didn’t get great starts with the bat by the openers and it is one of the biggest reasons behind their failure. Rohit Sharma endured lean outings with the bat and couldn’t get the team off to good starts. He is currently the captain of the Indian Cricket Team and his form is crucial for India’s fortunes in the 20-20 World Cup 2022. Rohit Sharma has managed to score 198 runs in 10 matches at an average of 19.8.

3. Ravindra Jadeja

Prior to the start of the Indian T20 League 2022, MS Dhoni handed over Chennai’s captaincy duties to Ravindra Jadeja. The Indian all-rounder failed miserably as captain. Chennai failed badly under his leadership and Jadeja’s own form took a hit.

He dropped catches, couldn’t pick wickets, and didn’t score enough runs as well. Jadeja is currently finding it hard to play impactful knocks or pick wickets. In 10 matches, he has only managed to score 116 runs and pick 5 wickets with the ball. This isn’t a good sign, especially from the India’s point of view.

4. Shreyas Iyer

Kolkata started their campaign on a good note but couldn’t continue the winning momentum. They lost five consecutive matches before winning their last game against Rajasthan. Shreyas Iyer’s poor form with the bat is one of the biggest reasons behind Kolkata’s below-par season so far. Iyer came into the league with a rich vein of form.

He was scoring heaps of runs for the Indian team but he couldn’t replicate those performances for Kolkata in the ongoing tournament. He is currently the highest run-scorer for Kolkata with 324 runs to his name 11 matches but you expected way more than that with him being the skipper of the side. And also, with the kind of form he was in.

5. Rishabh Pant

India need good finishers to win the 20-20 World Cup 2022. They have been grooming the likes of Hardik Pandya and Rishabh Pant for quite some time now. Pant has failed to convert the start into big scores for Delhi in the ongoing seasons and this is a big concern for both Delhi and the Indian Cricket Team. If India need to win the 20-20 World Cup, he needs to take responsibility to stay at the crease right till the end and take the home.
