Axar Patel played a vital role during India’s most crucial win in the second of the three-match ODI series against the West Indies. He proved his worth for the team both with the bat and the ball. Axar was also the part of Indian T20 team during the five-match T20I series against the men in maroon.

Everybody including the experts and the fans was expecting that he might secure his berth in the Indian squad for the continental tournament. But it couldn’t happen as the selectors preferred the senior all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin in the squad instead of Axar Patel.

The talented wicketkeeper-batter has impressed everyone with his stellar performances in the domestic cricket and franchise league as well. Following that, he has performed well on numerous occasions. He has also some fine outings for his franchise Rajasthan in the 2022 edition of the Indian T20 League.

Samson has also performed well in a recent couple of matches for India including the Ireland tour followed by the England and West Indies tours. He was the one who deserved a place in the squad of the men’s T20 Asia Cup but the Indian selectors went on to sideline him from the team. Notably, he was in the Indian squad which toured the Caribbean islands for the recently-concluded five-match T20I series and three-match ODI series.

The 27-year-old might be a triumph card for the men in blue in the T20 World Cup which they will participate in later in the dusk of this year. But it was also necessary to give him match practice and experience of playing in pressure situations before the World Cup.

Ishan Kishan

Ishan Kishan

Ishan Kishan was selected in the squad for the West Indies but he couldn’t get the chances to play for the team in the series. Young wicketkeeper-batter has been sensational since the conclusion of the 2022 Indian T20 League. Ishan Kishan had some amazing outings for the new entrants Lucknow in the tournament including an unbeaten opening stand of 210 runs with the skipper KL Rahul in a match against Mumbai. Following that, he has also played some good knocks for the Indian team as well.

He could have given good stuff in the top-order batting in the crucial matches during the Asia Cup 2022. Notably, Ishan was also a part of the Indian team on the tour of the West Indies, but he didn’t get a chance to play that many matches to prove himself. And without even assessing his performance, the selectors ignored the youngster while it was to select the squad for the continental tournament.

Kuldeep Yadav

This exclusion is completely unexpected for many cricket experts and the fans as well. Kuldeep Yadav has always performed exceptionally in T20I cricket whenever he got the opportunity. He has played 25 T20I matches since he made his first T20I appearance in 2017. In these matches, Kuldeep has scalped 44 wickets with a commendable bowling average of 14.02.

It's a bit strange philosophy to believe that on what ground selectors keep ignoring when it is to select a team for any major event or tournament. Notably, the 27-year-old was picked by the selectors in the squad of the Indian team for the Caribbean white-ball tour. But he couldn’t get a chance to feature in enough matches for the team and subsequently the management sidelined him from the squad for the Asia Cup 2022.
