They lost a lot of talented Indians as well as overseas cricketers and couldn’t even buy them back at the auction. A lot of cricketers who were part of the side till last year are performing really well for some other franchises in the ongoing edition of the tournament and Kolkata would be regretting their decision to have let them go.

In this article, we will be talking about four cricketers, who were part of Kolkata last year, are performing well for their new franchises:

Indian cricketer, Dinesh Karthik has been a revelation for Bangalore this season. He is looking in outstanding form with the bat and has done a phenomenal job in helping Bangalore perform well thus far this season. Dinesh Karthik has taken the team out of trouble on a few occasions already, thanks to his superb ball-striking display.

Despite batting lower down the order in the batting unit, Karthik has managed to score 210 runs in 7 matches at an average of 210 and a strike rate of 205.88. These are some outstanding numbers and Kolkata would be regretting its decision to let him go.

  1. Shubman Gill

Shubman Gill made his debut in IPL for Kolkata. He gave the team solid starts at the top of the order consistently. However, between him and Venkatesh Iyer, Kolkata had to take the hard call and picked Iyer in the team for 2022 edition.

Gill is playing of Gujarat this year and is looking in supreme form. His 46- ball 84-run knock against Delhi has been one of the best knocks in the tournament thus far. In 6 matches, Gill has managed to score 200 runs in 6 matches so far at an average and strike rate of 33.33 and 151.52 respectively.

  1. Kuldeep Yadav

Kuldeep Yadav didn’t get a lot of chances to prove his mettle both for India and in the Indian T20 League for last couple of years. He played only 5 matches for Kolkata last year and picked only 1 wicket. As a result of his below-par performances, the franchise released him ahead of the Mega Auction. Delhi bought his services at the auction. Playing for a new franchise, India’s wrist spinner is wreaking havoc in the tournament.

The left-arm spinner is currently the second-highest wicket-taker this season, only behind Yuzvendra Chahal. In 6 matches, he has 13 wickets to his name at an average of 14.31.

  1. Rahul Tripathi

Despite playing outstanding knocks last year for Kolkata, the franchise let Rahul Tripathi go and they are paying the price of it. Turning up for a new franchise in Hyderabad, Tripathi has played some outstanding knocks and has played a pivital role in turning the franchise’s fortunes in the tournament.

His match-winning knocks helped the team recover after two losses in two matches. In 6 matches, Rahul Tripathi has managed to score 205 runs at an average of 51.25 and a strike rate of 173.73.
