India has announced the squad for the Asia Cup 2022. Looking at the squad, then there is the good news for the Indian fans that senior batters KL Rahul and Virat Kohli are back in the team. Apart from this, young pacer Arshdeep Singh is set to replace the senior pacer Jasprit Bumrah in the squad.

But there are also the inclusions in the squad of Asia Cup 2022 which shouldn’t have been there. These additions have shocked the cricket fans and experts to the same extent to that of ignoring Deepak Chahar and Mohammed Shami for the major continental tournament.

India was almost close to a win in the second of the recently-concluded five-match T20I series against West Indies. Skipper Rohit Sharma handed over the ball to Avesh Khan for bowling in the last over of the match. He was supposed to defend the runs for the team in the pressure situation. Everybody went on to question Rohit Sharma if you had one over the remaining senior pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar then how can you count on such an inexperienced young pacer in such a crucial situation? Ravichandran Ashwin

Undoubtedly, the all-time legendary all-rounder of India in the longest format of the cricket among all who ever played the game. But, when it comes to limited-overs cricket or the shortest format, then there are few youngsters who can be a better option than Ravichandran Ashwin. Notably, former skipper Virat Kohli used to avoid the senior all-rounder in the T20I squads.

But since the time Rohit Sharma took over the captaincy duties, he has shown a belief in the 35-year-old veteran. On the contrary, speaking from the perspective to go in a multi-team tournament, then the 28-year-old in-form all-rounder Axar Patel could have been a better option than Ashwin to pick in the squad for Asia Cup 2022.

It’s quite a bit strange thing that you select a player who has gone through a few breaks having the experience of only six months and nine T20I matches in international cricket. Selecting is not a concern, but it is very important to figure out for which assignment you are picking the youngsters like Ravi Bishnoi in the squad.

It’s neither a charity series nor a friendly match, you are going to compete with four to five best teams in the Asia Cup. Selectors could’ve shown some patience in adding the 21-year-old Bishnoi to their future plans. There were many better options in comparison to him to play in the Asia Cup.
